Popular South Korean musician DJ Soda on Friday took part in a tree plantation programme as part of the Chief Minister’s Green Mission Manipur at Mongjam- a picturesque village in Manipur’s Imphal East district.
Mongjam village lies under Heingang assembly constituency which is the native constituency of Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh.

Manipur forest and environment Minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar and other forest officials were also present during the plantation programme.
The plantation drive was organised by the forest department.
DJ Soda whose real name is Hwang So-hee, speaking to the media on the sideline of the plantation programme said she enjoyed her visit to Manipur.
Appreciating the pleasant weather, she said the natural environment with birds and trees is joyful to observe.
She also informed that she does not use the air conditioner and focuses on minimum usage of electricity as an effort to conserve the environment.
The renowned musician arrived in Manipur on Thursday afternoon, to make her maiden appearance at the Ultra EDM Imphal- an electronic dance music festival.
Speaking to the media Manipur forest minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar said, ” DJ Soda taking part in the tree plantation is a testament that the entire world is united for the conservation and preservation of the environment.”
He appealed all to come forward and contribute towards saving the environment for the better future of the younger generation.
“Today the world is united to fight against the climate change without any division of nation, caste, creed, culture or profession,” he said.
