COVID19 positive

The total number of COVID19 positive cases in Manipur reached 2,015 while the total active and recovered cases stand at 631 and 1384 respectively.

In the last 24 hours, 90 new cases including 68 males and 22 females, were confirmed at VRDLs of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (26) and the district hospitals of Jiribam (17) and Thoubal (5).

The mobile testing team detected 8 positive cases in Imphal West, said Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, additional director & spokesperson of the health department in a statement.

The infected patients belong to the districts of Imphal East, Imphal West, Jiribam, Kangpokpi, Kakching, Tengnoupal and Thoubal.

The patients are being shifted to the COVID care facilities, said the COVID 19 common control centre statement.

Four persons from Thoubal district are non-returnees with local contact history and the rest are returnees from other states, it said.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added.

In the past 24 hours, 64 persons have been discharged from COVID care centres at Meitram in Imphal West, Senapati, Tamenglong, Thoubal, Ukhrul and the COVID care facilities at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences after they tested negative during RT PCR test.

With the latest development, the cumulative number of positive cases in the state increased to 2,015.

The total numbers of active and recovered cases are 631 and 1384 respectively.

The recovery rate is 68.68 per cent.

In another development,158 persons and 230 vehicles were detained in the state for violating lockdown norms and a sum of Rs 32,100 has been collected as fine as per the law, police said on Tuesday.

So far 3,09,977 persons were screened at various entry points of the state while 71,703 samples were tested for COVID19, according to the latest report of the state surveillance officer of the integrated disease surveillance programme, Manipur.

As per the report, altogether 57,383 people have completed their quarantine while 3,306 are still at various quarantine centres in the state.
