Assamese actor Geetawali Rajkumari and her daughter tested COVID19 positive on Tuesday while Jorhat’s positive cases shot up to 165 in the last 24 hours.

Geetawali’s daughter is a student of Don Bosco School.

The actor tested positive in a rapid antigen test conducted at Jorhat on Tuesday.

Her elder sister, Subhalakshmi Rajkumari, who is the Inspector of Schools, Jorhat, tested positive on Monday.

Former ward commissioner of Jorhat Municipal Board Prasanta Bora and an employee of the revenue department, Abhilash Dutta, also tested positive for the virus a few days back.

Dutta was in the control room of the Jorhat Circuit House but deputy commissioner Roshni A Korati said he had not come in contact with any VIPs and had not come to the office for one week.

Korati said the total cases of Jorhat stand at 1,064, out of which 355 have been discharged and 701 are active.

The DC, while giving a breakup of the positive cases found after the rapid antigen test, said in the Zonal Screening Center, out of the 15 tested, all were found negative, in the Govt Girls H.S. & M.P. School, out of the 18 tests (RAT), 6 were found positive and 12 were found negative.

In Dhenuchucha LP School, out of 14 tests (RAT), two were found positive and 12 were found negative.

In Kalyan Sangha LP School, out of 12 tests (RAT), 4 were found positive.

The DC said out of the 165 people found positive on Tuesday, 28 belong to the Jorhat town area.
