The Coordination Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has reportedly called off its boycott of the Sangai Festival after it was allowed an appointment with union home minister Amit Shah.
COCOMI has been spearheading the protests on Naga peace talk issue and the leaders were seeking an appointment with Shah to have an informal discussion on it.
The leaders will meet Shah on Monday, a release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said.
Sources informed that in view of this development the CMO appealed COCOMI to withdraw its boycott call, which the COCOMI agreed to.
Union tourism minister Prahlad Singh Patel had earlier appealed the people of Manipur to not boycott the annual Sangai Festival.
