Imphal: Commandos of the Manipur police, with the assistance of the central para-military forces, arrested two Manipur valley-based underground cadres from different hideouts on Saturday, the police reported on Sunday.
The joint team apprehended an active cadre of the banned People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) from Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai under Singjamei police station, Imphal West district.
He was identified as Mayengbam Roshan Meitei, also known as Panganba (28), a resident of Langathel Kangjeibung Lampak, Thoubal district.
A mobile phone was seized from him.
From his disclosure, the joint forces conducted yet another operation leading to the capture of an active cadre of the proscribed Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup – Socialist Revolutionary Party (KYKL-SOREPA) from the Athokpam Khunou area under Thoubal-PS, Thoubal district.
Elangbam Premchand Singh of Hiyanglam Warakhong, Kakching district, was nabbed along with a Honda Activa B/Regn. No. MN-06S-6743 and a mobile phone along with a SIM card.
The joint forces also launched the third phase of operation and recovered an unidentified metal, suspected to be a locally made weapon, from the Monghlam area under Thoubal Dam-PS, Imphal East district, while conducting long-range patrolling.
The reports added that the arrested persons and recovered items were later handed over to the concerned police stations for legal action.
