Guwahati: Bodies of three women who were suspected to be a part of six abducted individuals were recovered near the Assam-Manipur border.

The three are suspected to be part of the six people abducted by armed militants from Manipur’s Jiribam district.

The abducted individuals include three women and three minors who were taken from a relief camp near a police station in the Borobekra area. A massive search operation has been taking place for a week to locate the missing persons.

However, it has been suspected that these dead bodies may be linked to the abduction.

The cause of death is still being investigated, police said.

All the bodies were taken to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital for postmortem and further investigation.

The missing persons were identified as namely Yumlembam Rani Devi (60), Telem Thoibi Devi (31) and her daughter Telem Thajamanbi (8), Laishram Heitonbi Devi (25), her son Laishram Chingkheinganba (2), and her youngest child, Laishram Langamba (8 months).
