Following an operation, the Quick Reaction Team (QRT) of the Chandel Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) has been able to rescue a woman kidnapped from Thamlakhuren from the clutches of her captors and nabbed two cadres of the NSCN(IM).
According to information, based on specific inputs, the Quick Reaction Team of Assam Rifles’ Chandel Battalion launched an operation in search of a woman who was kidnapped from Thamlakhuren area in Manipur on Tuesday.

The Assam Rifles team reportedly had received information about the presence of two armed NSCN (IM) cadres with a woman at a school building in New Wangparal area.
Based on the tip-off the QRT of Chandel AR Battalion immediately launched a search and rescue operation on
Wednesday afternoon.
It has been reported that following the operation, the Assam Rifles team was able to rescue the kidnapped woman while her captors had surrendered.

The NSCN(IM) cadres have reportedly been identified as self-styled ‘Lt. colonel’ Justin Khapai from ‘GHQ Hebron’ and self-styled ‘sergeant’ Korungthang of ‘AC battalion Chandel’ of the militant outfit which is a part of the Naga peace process.
According to media reports, one AK-47 rifle with 27 bullets were seized from the two nabbed NSCN(IM) cadres..
Informing about the incident, the Assam Rifles on its official Twitter handle on Saturday stated: “Informed by local villagers,QRT of Chandel Bn launched a search & rescue operation in a school building at New Wangparal, Manipur, rescued a woman kidnapped from Thamlakhuren.Cornered by the Force, kidnappers surrendered& were found to be cadres of NSCN (IM).”
