Assam Rifles nabs KYKL woman cadre in Bishnupur, recovers contraband worth Rs. 64 lakh at Tengnoupal

The troops of Assam Rifles based in Manipur have nabbed an active woman cadre of the militant group, Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) in the Bishnupur district of Manipur.

The Assam Rifles personnel also recovered a huge consignment of contraband items worth Rs. 64 lakh from Tengnoupal in Manipur on Sunday.

Confirming the news, the Assam Rifles on its Twitter handle said the KYKL woman cadre was apprehended from the Upokpi Market Shed area of Bishnupur.

“Series of successful operations by troops of #AssamRifles lead to apprehension of an active KYKL woman cadre from Upokpi Market Shed area of Bishnupur & contraband recovery worth Rs. 64 Lakhs approximately from Tengnoupal in Manipur on 21 Feb 21,” Assam Rifles tweeted.

Meanwhile, Assam Rifles personnel in a joint operation with Manipur Police apprehended a drug peddler in Churachandpur on Saturday.

The joint team was also able to recover approximately 3.65 kgs of opium worth Rs 2.5 lakh in Churachandpur district.
