The Keithelmanbi and Tulihal Battalions of 9 Sector Assam Rifles and Chassad Battalion of 10 Sector Assam Rifles celebrated International Mother’s Day along with the rest of the world on Sunday.

As a part of the commemoration activities, Assam Rifles personnel carried out various activities with the local populace.
Lilong Company Operating Base (COB) of Keithelmanbi battalion organized a lecture cum interactive session on health at Waithou Chiru village; while Tulihal Battalion celebrated the day by felicitating Meira Paibis, the release stated.
Chassad Battalion also organized a special event at Nampisha to celebrate the day as a tribute to all doting mothers. The celebrations commenced with prayers for peace and harmony which was followed by an interaction session with the womenfolk of remote border villages.
Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles also conducted a medical camp at J J Orphanage Moreh, Tengnoupal district on Sunday commemorating with the occasion.
A medical team of Moreh Battalion provided medical aid to total of 37 children and staff. The children were investigated for the deficiency of haemoglobin and iron, anaemia, skin infection, fever, cough and cold; and free medicines were also distributed to the children of orphanage, it stated.
The Medical Officer also presented a lecture on general health and hygiene while also conducting a sanitary check-up of the orphanage, the release added.
Meanwhile, Sehlon Battalion of 28 Sector Assam Rifles saved the lives of two young men from succumbing to their injuries caused by a road accident that occurred on the roads of Samtal Salient on May 11.
Truck driver, Thang Meinlein, 27, along with his assistant driver, Malsam, 21, both residents of Moljol village were driving their truck from Moljol to Tuitong when their truck skidded from the road and toppled down into a drain.
The individuals were brought to Assam Rifles camp at Tuitong by the villagers where first aid was given by the medical assistant present at the camp. Subsequently, they were evacuated to community health centre at Sugnu for further medical treatment, the release further added.
