As many as 90 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) including 15 companies of the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) will be deployed in the first phase of election to the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituency.
The chief electoral officer (CEO) of Manipur, PK Singh, reportedly said this adding that this development could be perhaps the first of its kind in any part of the country.

The central forces to be deployed include CRPF, BSF, SAP from Assam and Mizoram and RPF, the CEO reportedly said.
As per media reports, for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, around 300 all-women polling stations will also be set up for the first time in Manipur.
There will be a total of 2,862 polling stations in Manipur this time.

Out of these, 282 including 227 polling stations in Outer Manipur LS constituency and 56 polling stations in Inner Manipur LS constituency are critical and 225 including 171 in Outer Manipur LS constituency and 54 in Inner Manipur LS constituency are ‘vulnerable’.
Manipur, where there are two parliamentary constituencies – Inner and Outer parliamentary constituencies, will go to polls on April 11 and 18 respectively.
In two Assembly constituencies in Manipur – one each in Churachandpur and Imphal East districts – will be manned by only women poll personnel.
Stating that there are going to be close to 300 ‘all-women’ polling stations this time, the CEO informed that the total number of polling stations this time is 2,862.
In each Assembly constituency, there will be one model polling station.
According to information, the total number of electors is 19,59,429 including 9,62,932 males and 9,96,452 females.
Meanwhile, there has been proposal for online live webcasting and static recording in about 1,250 polling stations across the State.
Three helicopters will be arranged for airlifting of 124 polling parties, EVMs and VVPATs in Tamenglong, Churachandpur, Chandel and Ukhrul after the polls, the CEO said.
