Manipur State Cooperative Bank Limited (MSCB) donated a sum of Rs 5 lakh for the upcoming annual Manipur Sangai Festival to be held here from November 21-30.
The festival is being held every year since its establishment in 2010 to promote Manipur as a world class tourism destination. The festival was named after the state animal, Sangai, the brow-antlered deer found in Manipur.
The Managing Director A Subash Singh of MSCB along with officials handed over the cheque to Chief Minister N Biren Singh in the presence of Director of Tourism W Ibohal Singh at a simple function held at Chief Minister’s bungalow in Imphal on Sunday.
Expressing his happiness for being a sponsor of the upcoming festival, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said it is a sign of positive development that people are extending their support and co-operation for grand success of the upcoming Manipur Sangai Festival 2018.
He said more individuals and companies are approaching the government for the sponsorship of this year’s Sangai Festival.
The chief minister said chief ministers of Sagaing and Mandalay region of Myanmar will be joining the Festival. The Festival would be held at three venues -Keibul Lamjao in Bishnupur district, Hapta Kangjeibung and Lamboikhongnangkhong both in Imphal West district and Mao in Senapati, he added.
It may be mentioned that with day’s sponsorship, the MSCB becomes the second Diamond Sponsor for the upcoming event.
On October 24, the Panthoibi Housing Finance Company Limited,a private company in Imphal had donated a sponsorship amount of Rs 5 lakhs for the Festival.
The Chairman and Managing Director Th Hemo Singh of Panthoibi Housing Finance Company Limited handed over the cheque to Chief Minister Biren Singh.
The Company would be given two Exhibition stalls in the event and their logos would be included in the tickets of Manipur Sangai Festival 2018,according to official sources available here. Special mention recognition would be given to the Company during the Festival.
