Imphal: Security forces have dismantled militant hideouts in two districts of Manipur and seized a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives.

Based on intelligence inputs, troops from the central paramilitary forces along with Manipur Police commandos raided a militant hideout in Tengnoupal district’s Maojang village along the India-Myanmar border.
Although the militants managed to flee, the security forces recovered a cache of weapons from the abandoned hideout.
The recovered items include four 12 bore single barrel rifles, a locally-made rifle, a .303 rifle, three country-made mortars (pompis) and a country-made lathode gun.

Other recovered items include three improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two walkie-talkie handsets with charger and several live rounds of ammunition.
Security forces in an operation dismantled another militant hideout in Kakching district’s Utangpokpi hills which posed a potential threat to national security.
Two 9mm pistols, a .22 rifle, a country-made mortar, a 36 HE grenade and several live rounds of ammunition were recovered from the hideout.
The seized items were later handed over to Manipur Police for legal procedures.
