Aizawl: The Mizoram Police have arrested a 23-year-old man for stealing money by replacing the QR code sticker at a government-owned filling station in Aizawl.
The accused H. Lalrohlua hailing from Lunglei’s Hrangchalkawn was residing in Aizawl’s Armed Veng area.

Mizoram Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Lalbiakthanga Khiangte said a complaint was received from the manager of Mizofed’s petrol pump at Treasury Square reporting the QR code sticker used for customer transactions had been replaced by miscreants.

Based on the complaint, the police launched an investigation and picked up Lalrohlua on grounds of suspicion.

During sustained interrogation, Lalrohlua, who had no previous criminal record, admitted to have committed the crime.
The accused printed his Google Pay QR code and pasted it over the one displayed at the filling station.
IGP Khiangte said the accused received Rs 2,315 in three transactions via GPay and repaid Rs 890 to one of the payees spending the remaining amount.
