Security forces arrested one suspect and recovered arms and ammunition in coordinated anti-insurgency operations across Manipur districts.

Imphal: In a series of coordinated anti-insurgency operations carried out over the past 24 hours, central and state security forces arrested an individual involved in extortion and intimidation of civilians using a replica firearm, along with multiple recoveries of arms and ammunition from different districts.

According to police sources, the arrested person has been identified as Md. Eliyash Khan, also known as Apik and Rocky (36), a resident of Kwakta Khuman Ward No. 8 in Bishnupur district. He was apprehended from his present location within the jurisdiction of Heingang Police Station in Imphal East district, where he was staying at Friends Colony, Mantripukhri.

During the operation, security personnel recovered a 9 mm replica pistol from his possession, which he allegedly used to threaten and extort members of the public.

In a separate operation conducted in the Heirok Part-II, Mayai Leikai area under Heirok Police Station in Thoubal district, security forces recovered a significant cache of arms and incriminating materials. The seized items include one .32 pistol with magazine, two SBBL firearms, 71 rounds of live ammunition of various calibers and two tear smoke shells.

Authorities also recovered 12 KCP logo stickers, 14 bulletproof plates, one bulletproof jacket, and a set of military-style clothing including camouflage shirts, pants, caps, shoes and belts.

Both the arrested individual and the seized materials have been handed over to the respective police stations for further legal proceedings, police added.
