Guwahati: A group of MLAs from Manipur belonging to the Meitei, Kuki and Naga communities are scheduled to hold a joint meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday under the supervision of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
It will be the first time that MLAs of the three communities will be meeting after the ethnic violence erupted in Manipur on May 3, 2023.

While three Naga legislators – Ram Muivah, Awangbou Newmai and L Dikho – will be participating in the meeting, the number of Meitei and Kuki MLAs to attend the meeting is yet not known.

Ram Muivah is already in New Delhi for personal reasons.

All three Naga MLAs are from the Naga People’s Front (NPF) who is an ally of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Manipur.
All other MLAs attending the meeting are likely to arrive in the national capital on Monday.
The meeting is a part of the Central government’s efforts to open the door for talks between the warring communities in order to find out a solution to the crisis in the state.
