Security forces arrested a KCP-PWG cadre and recovered two hand grenades with a โ€œLast warningโ€ note during an operation in Imphal east.

Imphal: A joint operation by central and state security forces led to the arrest of an insurgent and the recovery of two hand grenades along with a threat note reading โ€œLast warning, KCP PWGโ€ in Imphal East district on Tuesday.

Police said two hand grenades were discovered at the residence of Guruaribam Bhavananda in Brahmapur Guruaribam Leikai under Porompat police station limits. The explosives, found inside a black plastic bag along with the threat note were later safely defused by a bomb disposal squad that rushed to the spot after receiving information.

Following the recovery, a coordinated follow-up operation led to the arrest of an active cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party-Peopleโ€™s War Group (KCP-PWG), identified as Khulem Shyam Singh (23) from Kongpal Chingangbam Leikai in Imphal East. He was apprehended from the Langol Laimanai area under Lamphel police station in Imphal West.

Police also seized two mobile phones and an Aadhaar acknowledgment receipt from his possession. Authorities confirmed that the accused and the recovered materials have been handed over to the concerned police stations for further legal action.
