Manipurโ€™s Central Forest Division released five rescued snakes into Langol Reserved Forest under its wildlife conservation drive.

Imphal: The Central Forest Division of Manipur on Tuesday released five rescued snakes into the Langol Reserved Forest in Imphal West district as part of its ongoing wildlife conservation initiatives.

The reptiles released included one adult Copper-headed Trinket Snake, three Monocled Cobras and one Indochinese Rat Snake. According to officials, the snakes were rescued from various locations in Imphal West and Imphal East districts.

The release programme was conducted in the presence of Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Vikram Suresh Nadhe (IFS), Sadar West Range Forest Officer Yumnam Kiranjit, forest staff and a research scholar from the Department of Zoology, Manipur University.

Forest authorities stated that the move highlights the departmentโ€™s continued efforts towards wildlife rescue and conservation. They also urged the public to immediately inform forest officials if wild animals are found in residential areas and appealed to people not to harm them.
