The Indo-ASEAN friendship car rally, flagged off from Gaden Namgyal Lhatse Monastery, popularly known as Tawang Monastery at Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh on September 12, returned to Imphal, officials said on Tuesday.
A reception function was organized on their arrival in presence of executives of Business Excellence Group held at Sangai Hotel on Monday evening.
The participants in the car rally shared their month long trip experience during the gathering inside the small hall of the hotel.
Sharing his experience, Indian team convoy leader L Manoranjan who joined the rally from Imphal on September 14 observed that proper planning for such a long car rally is required to address the key issues.
Otherwise the rally would remain as one of the historic and memorable moment in every participant’s lifetime, he said. Exploring business opportunities and people to people contacts are also some of the objectives and importance of the rally.
The rally was initiated by the Arunachal Pradesh Government and supported by Union Ministries of Tourism, Youth Affairs and Sports and External Affairs along with Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi to commemorate the 25 years of friendship between India and ASEAN countries.
The rally traversed through Myanmar, Thailand, Laos in 25 days with a ‘mission’ to boost friendship and people-to-people contact besides promoting trade and tourism by exploring the age-old linkages and connectivity between India and ASEAN countries.
The Indian team with three Rotary members from Russia drove around a dozen Indian cars. A good number of Thai delegates also participated in the rally which was organized by Arunachal Pradesh based International Friendship Car Rally Association, according to reports.
