Guwahati: Security forces deployed in Manipur on Thursday (September 5, 2024) recovered a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives from the restive state’s Kangpokpi and Imphal East districts.
In a significant push towards restoring peace and stability in violence-hit Manipur, the Indian Army has ramped up its combing and search operations across the state to counter the surge of violent activities, Kohima-based Defence PRO, Lt Col Amit Shukla, said.
In coordination with the Manipur Police, the Indian Army successfully executed a joint operation on Thursday.
The operation, based on precise information, resulted in the recovery of a substantial arms cache in the sensitive and fringe areas of Kangpokpi and Imphal East districts.
The recovery gives a major blow to the miscreants threatening peace in the restive state.
The tireless efforts of the security forces led to the recovery of a heavy caliber launcher, a 12 bore double barrel rifle and a .177 rifle with magazine.
The other recoveries include two pistols, a pompi gun (locally made mortar), five grenades and ammunition, among others, Lt Col Shukla added.
