Security forces seized a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives in different operations in Manipur’s Kakching and Thoubal districts

Guwahati: Security forces in Manipur have seized a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives from Kakching and Thoubal districts.

During search operations conducted in Thoubal district, the security forces recovered a submachine gun (SMG) carbine with magazine, a single barrel breech loading (SSBL) gun, a .32 pistol with magazine, a INSAS light machine gun (LMG) magazine, a 81mm mortar shell, four 36 HE hand grenades, three detonators and 41 live rounds of ammunition from Chingkham Ching area.

The other recoveries include five 80mm Mk 1 green grenades, two stringer grenades, seven tear smoke grenades, 11 tear smoke shells, two stun shells, five 38mm rubber bullets, a Baofeng walkie talkie set, a Tytera (TYT) radio set and a equipment jacket.

The security forces during search operations carried out in Kakching district recovered three carbines with magazine, a air gun rifle, two single barrel guns, a 9mm pistol with magazine, fourteen 36 HE grenades without detonator, a 51mm mortar, two MK3 grenades and a suspected container weighing 4.755 kilograms of improvised explosive device (IED) explosive powder from Wabagai Natekhong, Turenmei area.

The other recovered weapons include four detonators, six tear smoke shells, two anti-riot rubber bullets, a stinger cartridge, two tube launchings, three arming rings, 34 live rounds of ammunition, 25 explosive cartridges, eighteen 7.62mm fired cases and 10 fired explosive cartridges.

Moreover a Baofeng walkie talkie set with charger, a helmet, two bullet proof covers, two locally-made bullet proof plates and one pair of jungle boots were also recovered.
