With today’s incident, it is the third consecutive day when suspected hill-based militants have attacked farmers working in paddy fields in the strife-torn state’s Imphal Valley.
These attacks, which have become a routine affair, are affecting the harvesting of crops as the farmers in the valley are scared of going to the paddy fields.
On the other hand, suspected hill-based militants also resorted to indiscriminate firing towards Saiton Litan village in Bishnupur district leaving a Meitei village defence volunteer injured.
Meanwhile, security forces have rushed to the spot.
