Convenor of COCOMI Thokchom Somorendro said the purported statement made by Lalduhoma duringย his recent visit to the United Statesย has created confusion amid efforts to restore peace in Manipur

Imphal:ย Meitei groupย Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) hasย vehemently opposed Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhomaโ€™s call for unification of the Kuki-Zo people living in India, Myanmar and Bangladesh.

Somorendro said Lalduhoma calling for unification of the Kuki-Zo people is uncalled for.

Theย COCOMI convenor slammedย the Mizoram CMย for making such a controversial statement at a time when Manipur is facing a serious crisis owing to an alleged offensive launched by the Kuki-Zos.

While stating that Lalduhomaโ€™s statement during the ongoing ethnic clashes in the strife-torn state is a matter of grave concern, Somorendro accused the Chief Minister of stirring unrest in the entire Northeast.

Somorendroย said the COCOMI is against any encroachment on Manipurโ€™s territory, adding ceding even an inch of land would not be compromised at any cost.

He further said that COCOMI is consistently committed to fostering unity among the indigenous people, envisioning a harmonious Manipur that embraces its 35 diverse communities.
