Imphal: Meitei group Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has vehemently opposed Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma’s call for unification of the Kuki-Zo people living in India, Myanmar and Bangladesh.

Somorendro said Lalduhoma calling for unification of the Kuki-Zo people is uncalled for.

The COCOMI convenor slammed the Mizoram CM for making such a controversial statement at a time when Manipur is facing a serious crisis owing to an alleged offensive launched by the Kuki-Zos.

While stating that Lalduhoma’s statement during the ongoing ethnic clashes in the strife-torn state is a matter of grave concern, Somorendro accused the Chief Minister of stirring unrest in the entire Northeast.

Somorendro said the COCOMI is against any encroachment on Manipur’s territory, adding ceding even an inch of land would not be compromised at any cost.

He further said that COCOMI is consistently committed to fostering unity among the indigenous people, envisioning a harmonious Manipur that embraces its 35 diverse communities.
