The Kokrajhar District Committee of Bodoland Farmers Association has decided support the candidates to be fielded by the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) for Kokrajhar and Mangaldai Lok Sabha seats in the ensuing parliamentary elections.

The Bodoland Farmers Association of Kokrajhar District Committee will support UPPL candidates U. G. Brahma in Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat and Prodeep Kr. Daimary in Mangaldai Lok Sabha seat.

The Bodo farmers’ association has also appealed to the people in general to support both the candidates and elect them with maximum margin of votes.

The Bodo organization has congratulated all the citizens of the largest democratic country of the world to exercise their franchise and choose the leaders by their right to vote.

The organization wished that there would be a free, fair & peaceful election in every region of the country and particularly in 5 Kokrajhar (ST) LS constituency of Assam.

The organizations also wished that the Election Commission and the administration of the country will effectively maintain the beauty of the democracy by ensuring voting right to every citizen.

The farmers association requested the Election Commission, both at the Centre and the State to make all necessary arrangements beforehand that ensure that no anti-social and anti-democratic forces can disturb the democratic process and general election for 17th Lok Sabha of the country by misusing money and muscle power.

The organisation also requested the Election Commission to take strict action towards those who indulge in violence during election.

The farmers’ group feels the need of dynamic, sincere and efficient political leader in both the constituencies to maintain value-based politics, peaceful coexistence, ensure good governance, proper implementation of central and state sponsored projects and optimum development in both the constituencies.

“We want to elect our candidates to eliminate the misunderstanding, trust deficit among the communities and also to work efficiently for permanent solution of the long pending Bodo issue, expedite the peace process with ceasefire underground groups like NDFB (P), NDFB and other groups of Assam and Northeast, provide security for all sections of people ensures equal right and protection of the identity and culture of Tribal and other ethnic people of BTC & Assam,” the Association leaders said while addressing a press conference here on Sunday.

The farmers’ group also appealed to the voters not to choose any corrupt and divisive politicians as their candidate for the 17th Lok Sabha.
