More than 500 players participated in the Khelo India Inter-coaching meet under 19 (both boys and girls) held at South Kashibary Saya Maya Sports Club playground in Kokrajhar district on Friday.
The office of the District Sports Officer, Kokrajhar organized the day-long coaching event.
The event was joined by players (boys and girls) from various disciplines like football, athletics and volleyball.
Talking to reporters, Jajnabati Basumatary, CHD sports welfare of BTC, said that a total of 20 coaching centres including Jharbari coaching centre, Salakati, Banargaon, Tipkai, Soraibil, Choraikola, Serfanguri and Dotma coaching centre from the Kokrajhar district participated in the event.
“The office of the District Sports Officer, Kokrajhar organized coaching for players of various disciplines to bring out experts. Today in the Khelo India Inter-coaching meet, over 500 participants thronged at the meet to show their talents in various sports activities.”
She also said the Khelo India Inter-coaching meet aimed at making peace and development activities in the sports areas and to select talented sports personalities in the various disciplines to participate in the upcoming competitions and bring fame to the district, State and the nation.
Basumatary said from Khelo India Inter-coaching meet competition they will select talented boys and girls from various disciplines to participate in the BTC level women competition which is going to be held from March 23 to March 25 at Chirang Champa playground in Chirang.
She also asserted that Khelo India Inter-coaching meet was also a good opportunity for the students showcasing their talents in various disciplines and urged the students not to drop out of their studies.
Meanwhile, a two-day long winter school tournament will held at South Kashibary Saya Maya Sports Club playground in Kokrajhar from March 16 to March 17, 2019.
The tournament will be organized by the Kokrajhar District Circle (KDC) for the categories of under 14 to 17 (both boys and girls) in disciplines of athletics and volleyball. Volleyball events will be held for players of 17 years old.
Pradip Narzary informed that the winter school tournament champion team will be awarded a cash amount of Rs 10,000 and the runners-up an amount of Rs 8,000 in volleyball along with trophy in the tournament.
Narzary expects over 500 participants in the winter school tournament.
Khelo India district level committee member Sarada Prasad Paul, ex-secretary of the KDSA and advisor KDSA, All Assam Masters Athletics Association working president Maguram Balary were also present in the programme.
