Kakching has been declared as the cleanest district headquarters in Manipur. The Municipal administration, housing & urban development (Mahud) announced the result of second state level swacchhata award 2018 on cleanliness and sanitation in all the district headquarters of Manipur.
Secretary M Joy Singh of Mahud department issued an official notice in this regard on Saturday, reports said. As per the notice, with 306 scores, Kakching bagged the cleanest district headquarters title while Imphal West district secured second cleanest district headquarters title with 298 scores.

Thoubal district headquarters becomes the third cleanest title with 297 scores. Churachandpur bagged the 6th rank with a score of 253 while Tamenglong 12th ranked with 161 scores. Pherzawl bagged the 16th rank with just 57 scores.
Meanwhile after Senapati and Bishnupur districts, Churachandpur becomes the third Open Defecation Free (ODF) district in Manipur.
Though Senapati district bordering Nagaland was declared first ODF district during an official function at Senapati district headquarters on March 28, 2018, no official function was organised to declare second ODF in case of Bishnupur district so far.

Bishnupur become second ODF district during mid April 2018. Churachandpur district Deputy Commissioner Shyam Lal Poonia who is also the Chairman District Water and Sanitation Committee (DWSC) Churachandpur has made an official declaration on Saturday, reports reaching here said.
The declaration was made following the total construction of Individual Household Latrines (IHHLs) as per baseline survey of 2012.
The Baseline Survey conducted in the year 2012 identified 22,282 households for construction of IHHLs in the district, DC Poonia said in a statement.
“The mission was executed under the aegis of DWSC, Churachandpur in coordination with Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Village Water and Sanitation Committee (VWSC), Block Level Officers/Sub-Divisional Officer/Block Development Officer, NGOs etc,” the statement said.
While congratulating the people of the district, the DC appealed to the people of Churachandpur to continue the cooperation and good work rendered during the various stages of Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G).
