Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry C R Chaudhary called on Arunachal Pradesh governor B D Mishra at Raj Bhavan in Itanagar on Monday. The Governor discussed with the visiting minister various issues related to trade and commerce in the state.
The governor, while sharing his observation of his tours to all the twenty-two districts of the state informed the minister about the huge potential Arunachal Pradesh has in term of horticultural and forest products.
“Our state produces large quantity of organic products such as oranges, kiwi, large cardamom, pineapple and tea but the farmers are not getting good prices,” he said.
Arunachal Pradesh is known for its quality cane and bamboos. The quantity of bamboos can meet the requirement of Agarbati industries of the country, which are at present importing bamboo sticks from other countries, like China and Vietnam, governor Mishra added.
Governor Mishra emphasized good market links and suggested buyback policy to help the agrarian community of the state. He also suggested setting up cold storage chains for off season vegetable and fruits.
