Two persons were killed and three others seriously injured in a road mishap on the approach road to the Bogibeel bridge.

Two persons were killed and three others seriously injured in a road mishap on the approach road to the Bogibeel bridge at Silapathar in Dhemaji district on Sunday.

Police officials said the accident took place when a Bolero vehicle collided with a speedy Ultra bus  (AS-23-BC9232) at Tangani in Silapathar area.

The passengers reportedly on the way to Itanagar when the Bolero they were travelling in rammed into the speeding private bus.

According to reports, the Bolero vehicle bearing registration no (AR-128848) belongs to the Jairampur DFO Chongkim Mosang.

According to police, the killed persons have been identified as Amit Sonar (driver of the vehicle) and the DFO’s wife Bharati Mosang, who succumbed to her injury on her way to the hospital.

Locals said within minutes of the occurrence of the accident, the police immediately rushed to the spot and sent the injured to the hospital. The condition of the Jairampur DFO Mosang is stated to be critical.

“The DFO was admitted to a private hospital in Dibrugarh in a critical condition with multiple injuries,” said a hospital source.

After the commissioning of the Bogibeel bridge, several people have lost their lives in accident on the bridge.
