Israeli Ambassador to India Dr Ron Malka visited the state-owned marquee incubator, Assam Startup – The Nest in Guwahati on Thursday.
The visit came as a follow-up to his meeting with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. He took understanding of the Assam Startup Policy, 2017 that has facilitated the establishment of Assam Startup – The Nest for nurturing the budding startup entrepreneurs of the region.

Dr Malka was full of praises for the sprawling infrastructure of The Nest. He appreciated the fact that Assam has established a state-of-art infrastructure and hoped to see it emerge as one of the leading startup eco-systems of the country.
The meeting held at Assam Startup – The Nest was attended by noted academicians from the IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, IIT Guwahati, Assam Engineering College, Royal Global University, IIE Guwahati, and Guwahati Biotech Park; entrepreneurs; investors; and funding agencies like SIDBI, among others. During the meeting, Ravi Capoor, additional chief secretary to the Government of Assam, Industries and Commerce, delved into the prospective opportunities of collaboration for developing the myriad sectors in Assam, especially with regard to agriculture, food, water, and cyber-security in which Israel holds cutting-edge expertise.

Dr Ron Malka also expressed the possibility of Israel mentoring the state for developing Assam’s startup ecosystem and initiating various startup exchange programmes.
Given that Israel currently stands as the startup capital of the world, this visit is expected to usher in a constructive transformation of the startup scenario in Assam.
