The Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare felicitated the Indian boys team Under-12 selected for the 10th BFA Asia Baseball Championship at Panjab University premises in Chandigarh prior to their departure to Taiwan on August 10, 2018 from Delhi Airport.
It may be mentioned that it’s a glory for the people of the Northeast and Assam that a player from Korkrajhar in Assam, Debabrat Brahma, has been selected in the Indian team under 12 years, to play in the Asian Championship to be held at Taipei in Taiwan.
The 10th BFA Asia Baseball Championship Under 12 years to be held at Taiwan from August 13 to 19, 2018 and India team will fly to Taiwan Taipei on Friday from Delhi.
Joypal Singh Brahma, father of Debabrat Brahma, said, “It’s a proud moment for us. He is the youngest player from the Northeast to be selected in the Indian team for any international games.”
Now, Debabrat Brahma is in Panjab University, Chandigarh and is undergoing a tough schedule of training under the national baseball coach Ajoy and Munna and on August 10, 2018, the Indian baseball team will fly to Taipei.
The Indian team will play the first match (Group B) with Hongkong, Japan and Pakistan.
The National Selection Camp was held in the month of July from 3rd to 12th in the Panjab University, Chandigarh.
A total of 15 boys were selected in the Indian team from Assam, Odisha, Maharashtra, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh, Rajastan and Shimla.
If they win the Asian Championship, then they will qualify for the World Cup scheduled to be held at Tokyo in Japan in 2019 .
The U-12 Indian baseball team will be back on August 20, 2018.
