The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Northeastern states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Sikkim on the day and in the next 24 hours.

The IMD also predicted that similar rainfall is likely over Andaman Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka, Kerala & Maharashtra.

Thunderstorm with lightning & gusty wind (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) very likely at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands; with lightning & gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya.

The IMD predicted thunderstorm with lightning at isolated places over Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

It further said heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands and heavy rainfall at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka and Kerala & Maharashtra.
