The Ministry of Human Resources and Development on Friday launched a helpline portal for students who have been facing difficulties due to the closure of schools and colleges in view of the nationwide lockdown.

Two interns of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) developed the portal (https://helpline.aicte-india.org) to provide help and support to the students.

The interns Shivanshu and Akash of Graphic Era University have developed the portal in record time of one day.

Union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on Friday launched the helpline portal in presence of AICTE Chairman Anil Sahasrabudhe and other dignitaries.

“This portal is essentially to connect those who are willing to provide help with those who need help. The nature of support includes accommodation, food, on line classes, attendance, examinations, scholarships, health, transport, harassment etc,” the HRD minister said.

He also said that over 6500 colleges have already come forward to provide support at such a crucial juncture.

Students in difficulty are encouraged to directly get connected with them through this portal, he added.

According to the Health Ministry, the total number of coronavirus cases in India has increased to 2902 on Friday.

Out of these 2902 cases, 68 deaths have been reported so far and 183 have been cured or discharged.
