The second day of the All Rabha Sahitya Sabha (ARSS) which got underway at Chibakai Satish Chandra Rabha Sumursini Mapak Dam in Tangla of Udalguri disitrict in Assam on Wednesday began with hoisting of 34 organizational flags marking the 34th year by dignitaries and noted personalities of the district.

Speaking on the occasion, president of ARSS Amar Singh Koch exhorted the Rabha community to uphold their distinct tradition, culture and language in its true form.

It was followed by smriti tarpan by vice-president of ARSS, Jatin Rabha and lightning of diyas by assistant general secretary AASU, Jayanta Kr Bhattachrjya.

An interactive session on the historical background of Rabhas was also held which was inaugurated by noted writer Kukhoraj Rankaha and participated by professor of Department of History, Gauhati Univesrsity, Jogesh Phukan and principal of Hiteshwar Saikia College, Dr Sikhamoni Konwar.

The programme was followed by a volleyball tournament and book launch ceremony.

A mouthpiece titled ‘Sunkharang‘, a souvenir ‘Karanal’, Rabha Sabdamala and a few other books were ceremoniously released on the occasion.

The programme was attended by AASU president, Dipanka Kr Nath, Deputy Speaker RHAC, Ramakanta Rabha, EM RHAC , Jibon Rabha, Jointi Rabha, Dr Birubala Rabha, actor and dramatist, Pabitra Rabha among host of other dignitaries.

A multi-lingual poet’s meet and cultural evening was also held in the evening.
