Guwahati: A young motorcyclist lost his life in a tragic road accident near the Assam Legislative Assembly in Guwahati on the night of May 26 after his bike reportedly slammed into an electric pole.
Sources said the victim was riding a Royal Enfield Himalayan and was travelling from the Ganeshguri side when he allegedly lost control of the motorcycle due to overspeeding. The vehicle crashed into the pole with significant force.
Soon after the impact, the motorcycle caught fire and was completely engulfed in flames. The rider suffered severe burn injuries on multiple parts of his body, including his face, and died at the scene.
The deceased was reportedly from Assam’s Dhemaji district.
Police teams reached the accident spot shortly after the incident and began the required legal formalities. Meanwhile, some locals claimed that the ambulance response was delayed despite police personnel being present nearby.
An investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
