Guwahati (West) Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Bhanwar Lal Meena has been placed under suspension for dereliction of duties.
Sources said Meena has been suspended because of the lapse in security arrangement during Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi’s visit to Kamakhya temple here on Wednesday.
CJI Gogoi had a harrowing time on Wednesday when he went to offer prayers at the Kamakhya temple.
The CJI was annoyed with Kamrup (M) DC Virendra Mittal after hundreds of BJP workers crowded the temple making it difficult for him to offer prayer in the temple.
CJI Gogoi’s visited the temple the day when BJP national president Amit Shah also came to offer prayer in the temple accompanied by CM Sonowal, state BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass and Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
