The publication of the final draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) will miss the deadline of June 30 as scheduled because works have been affected in Barak Valley, West Karbi Anglong and Hojai due to flood. The next date will be fixed after the Supreme Court hearing on July 2.

NRC state coordinator Prateek Hajela said, “It is not possible to publish the remaining draft of NRC on June 30 as the recent wave of floods has severely affected the NRC work. Work has been affected in Barak valley, West Karbi Anglong and Hojai. We suffered loss of around eight to ten working days. It is not possible to make up for these loses before June 30,” NRC state coordinator Prateek Hajela told reporters adding that he would seek a fresh date from the Apex Court on July 2.
