The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Karbi Anglong district in Assam, Mridul Kr Mahanta told reporters in Diphu at a press conference held at the conference hall of Deputy Commisioner’s office on Sunday that the complete draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) consisting of names of all applicants who are found eligible after due verification will be published shortly as per the timeline stipulated by the Supreme Court of India.
From January last, 2018 till date the verification for the remaining, that is, 153,804 people has been going on through the process of Office Verification, District Magistrate Investigation Team (DMIT), Family Tree Verification, Special Verification of married women certificate like GP certificate, Lot Mandal Certificate and Circle Officer certificate etc including Quality Check by LRCR, CRCR and DRCR, Mahanta said.
He also informed that the process of claims and objections will commence after publication of the complete draft of the NRC.
Applicants who do not find their names in the complete draft NRC will get another opportunity by way of submission of claims for inclusion in the final NRC.
Opportunity will also be given to the objections against inclusion of any ineligible person.
The final NRC will be published only after disposal of claims and objections, that is, on June 30.
All genuine Indian citizens as per cut-off date of March 24, 1971 (midnight) will be included in the final NRC, Mahanta added.
The Deputy Commissioner further informed that in case any person’s name is misspelled, improper address, mistake in spelling can approach the respective 42 NRC Seva Kendras spread across the district.
There are three revenue circles in the district.
Total numbers included in 1st draft publication on December 31, 2017 was 531101, which means there was 77.54 per cent inclusion in first draft.
The total members pending for verification after first draft is 153,804.
