The fate of 10,323 teachers of Tripura still hangs in balance with the Supreme Court refusing to pass any final verdict on Monday, but they will remain in service till July 2 next.

Following a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the State Government, the plea came up for hearing before Justice P K Pasricha on Monday.

After a brief hearing, Justice Pasricha suspended the hearing till July 2 next.

When the court’s attention was drawn that their jobs are supposed to get over by June 30, Justice Pasricha said they can continue in service till the next hearing, that is, July 2, 208.

Law Secretary D M Jamatia who is in Delhi to oversee the case, confirmed Monday’s development and said 10,323 teachers will remain in service till July 2.

Keeping all aspects in mind, the State Cabinet had decided to approach the apex court to save the 10,323 teachers pleading to extend their service till June 30, 2020 and pass necessary order.

After Monday’s verdict, the issue still remains sensitive.

Alarmed at the development, the ‘sacked teachers’ had sought permission to organize a protest rally in the city on Monday but the administration did not give them permission citing situation may turn ugly.
