The elections in Tripura are over and the State witnessed a change of guard.

The saffron bastion ripped into the 25-year-old red bastion to form the first Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led government in the State.

But nothing has changed as yet for the 10,323 school teachers of the State whose fate still hangs in balance.

Frustration and desperation are creeping in for these Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) qualified teachers even as the newly elected government led by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb is busy with everything else, other than looking into the vexed issue of these teachers.

Notably, the BJP in its vision document had promised before the polls that if voted to power, one of the priority things in their agenda will be reinstating these 10,323 teachers.

Notably, the erstwhile Left Front Government did not fill up the posts with teachers who had qualified in the TET examinations despite large number of vacancies lying in schools across the State.

Now it remains to be seen as to how soon, the new BJP-led government takes up the matter and resolves the issue for the betterment of these teachers whose future appears to be grim.
