A team of Excise officers from Kokrajhar was attacked on Monday by villagers as they visited only after five days of the murder of an Excise Sub-Inspector, Narayan Boral at Salarpara along the Indo-Bhutan border.

As per information, the villagers first vandalised the vehicle used by the Excise officers and then stones were pelted on them suspecting involvement of some excise officers in the murder of 49-year-old Boral.

Boral, a resident of Salarpara, was murdered on May 2 at Bismuri Ultapani Saralpara Road.

Talking to reporters, the younger brother of the victim said, “We are sad that no proper investigation into the murder case has been started.”

He added, “We have given enough indication about those who might be involved in the incident. Now, it is for the law agency to figure it out who is there. They are equipped to handle the case; we have enough evidences that at the spot of the incident there was one bike and two civilians. We also heard that they were shaking hands with police. We have never seen police at that place earlier at that jungle.”

The victim’s family members have demanded government job for the victim’s wife to look after their family, Rs 20 lakh as compensation and arrest of the culprits involved in the murder.

A team of representatives of four organizations including All Assam Gorka Students’ Union (AGSU) President Prem Thamang, All Adivasi Students Association of Assam President Pradip Nage, Bodoland Students Union (BSU) President Swgwmsar Basumatary, Adivasi National Convention (ANC) Secretary Birsing Munda and Birsa Cammando Force (BSF) Chairman Durga Hasda visited the victim’s family.

While condemning the incident, the organisations also demanded Rs 20 lakh as compensation for the victim’s family and to provide government job to one of the family members of the victim and also demanded CBI inquiry into the murder.

AGSU President Prem Thamang said, “We have condemned the incident and demand CBI inquiry into the murder of Narayan and also demand compensation for the victim’s family, besides a government job to one of the members of Narayan’s family.”

The Union also demanded suspension of Bismuri In-charge Baskar Jyoti Nath with immediate effect.

He said they have given the State and BTC governments one week time to take initiative and arrest the main culprit as soon as possible and punish the guilty. He added, “Otherwise, we will be compelled to organize agitational progamme seeking justice for the victim.”

AASAA President Pradip Nage said, “As per our investigation, Narayan Boral’s murder was well-planned. Crime is crime and the criminal should be punished. The government should provide justice to Narayan’s family.”

Meanwhile, a team of Bodoland People’s Front under the leadership of Kampa Borgoyary, Deputy Chief of BTC, Assam Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, EMs Rajib Brahma and Doneswar Goyaray visited the victim’s family on May 3 and declared Rs 3 lakh from the BPF party and Rs 2 lakh from the BTC to the victim’s family.
