Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi visited the residence of late Chandan Sarkar, former Irrigation Minister and Congress leader, at Abhyapuri in Bongaigaon district.
Gogoi met the family members of the former minister.
Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi during whose tenure, Sarkar served as a minister, offered his condolences and deep regards to the family members of late Sarkar.

Informing about his visit to the residence of late Sarkar on his Twitter handle on Friday, former CM Gogoi stated: “Paid a visit at the residence of Ex-Minister and dedicated Congress leader Late Chandan Sarkar at Abhyapuri and offered my condolences and deep regards to his family members.”
Chandan Sarkar died at the Lower Assam Hospital in Bongaigaon following cardiac arrest on November 18, 2018.
Expressing his condolence at the demise of the former minister Gogoi earlier tweeted: “Shocked to hear about the sudden demise of Ex-Minister and a dedicated Congress leader Chandan Sarkar. My prayers to the bereaved family. May his soul rest in peace.”
The senior Congress leader suffered a heart attack and was admitted to the hospital where he passed away.
The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) also expressed shock and dismay at the sudden demise of the senior party leader.
APCC president Ripun Bora in a condolence message offered his deep condolences to the bereaved family of South Abhayapuri MLA Sarkar.
An APCC delegation led by its president Ripun Bora also went to the Bongaigaon residence of late Sarkar and attended the last rights of the former minister.
Assam Finance and health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also expressed condolence at the demise of Sarkar.
