Former Assam minister Chandan Sarkar passes away

Former Assam minister and senior Congress leader Chandan Kumar Sarkar passed away in the wee hours of Monday in Bongaigaon.

Sarkar breathed his last at the Lower Assam Hospital in Bongaigaon.

The senior Congress leader suffered a heart attack late last night and was admitted to the hospital where he passed away.

Notably, Sarkar who was 65 years old was the Irrigation Minister in the erstwhile Tarun Gogoi government.

Meanwhile, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has expressed shock and dismay at the sudden demise of the senior party leader.

APCC president Ripun Bora in a condolence message offered his deep condolences to the bereaved family of South Abhayapuri legislator Sarkar.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the APCC led by its president Ripun Bora is going to the Bongaigaon residence of late Sarkar and will attend the last rights of the former minister.

Meawhile, Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed condolences at the demise of Sarkar.

In a condolence message, Himanta while wishing eternal peace for the departed soul expressed his condolences to the bereaved family of Chandan Sarkar.
