At least eight passengers were injured on Monday after Vistara’s Mumbai-Kolkata flight encountered severe turbulence just before landing.

As per reports, three passengers who suffered serious injuries have been shifted to a local hospital in Kolkata.

Five passengers who sustained minor injuries were given first aid and medical assistance after arrival in Kolkata.

They were later sent to their destination, Kolkata Airport Director C Pattabhi said.

There were reportedly 113 passengers on board the aircraft.

“The aircraft was caught amidst air turbulence right before landing at Kolkata airport. Three passengers have suffered injuries and were rushed to hospital,” Zee News quoted a senior official of Kolkata airport as saying.

“One elderly person has suffered shoulder dislocation while a lady has suffered a fracture on her right arm. Another person has suffered an injury on his forehead,” an official said.

The official said that due to turbulence, three passengers were injured critically and five passengers had minor injuries inside the aircraft.

The incident took place around 4 pm due to bad weather when the flight was around 25 nautical miles from Kolkata.
