A raid was carried out by an inspection squad consisting of the officials of Food and Civil Supply Branch led by Bistirna Barua, Executive Magistrate of Dhubri at Halakura Samabay Samiti under Agomoni Police Station in Dhubri on Wednesday and seized 30 quintals of rice along with other official records.
Executive Magistrate Barua, who led the team, said that the inspection team after careful scanning of all stock and sale registers, log books, beneficiary allocation order and post-verification of physical stock and comparing it with the listed stock found that there was a mismatch in the stock details between the noted stock and the actual stock.
The team found that almost 30 quintals of rice of PDS/TPDS meant for Mid-day meal and National NFSA beneficiaries were kept in excess in the godowns.
Finding this anomaly, Magistrate Barua ordered immediate seizure of the stock and sale ledgers, log books and also sealed the godown pending further enquiry and clarification.
Earlier, similar kind of anomalies regarding rice found by the team headed by Magistrate Barua in GPSS Geramari under Gauripur PS where a mismatch amounting to 110 quintals in actual and reported stock of rice meant for Mid-day meal and NFSA beneficiaries was detected, a huge amount of rice was seized by the administration a couple of days ago.
Further raids are expected to continue in the next few days as informed by Bistirna Barua, Executive Magistrate of Dhubri.
“Dhubri DC Ananta Lal Gyani has been monitoring and pursuing the matter with all seriousness and gravity,” Barua further added.
