The Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner Amitabh Rajkhowa on Wednesday appealed to the people of the district not to worry on non-inclusion of any individual’s name in the National Register of Citizens (NRC) draft which is scheduled to be published on June 30.

Addressing an awareness meeting organized by Dima Hasao district administration at Haflong’s Circuit House, the Deputy Commissioner appealed to the people of the district not to flow with any rumour on NRC.

The Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner said, “The district has not witnessed any such circumstances till date where people had to worry. I hope that the people of the district will maintain peace and harmony in the district in future also.”

Rajkhowa also appealed to the people of the district to remain aware regarding any possible unwanted situations.

The Deputy Commissioner further said, “The people who miss their name in the NRC draft to be published on June 30 need not to worry since there will be provisions to apply for inclusion of names.”

The North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) chief secretary of Normal department Mukut Kamprai, Additional Superintendent of Police Pusparaj Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaskar Debsarma , 43rd Assam Rifles Commanding Officer Gagan Pandey, JNH president Kalyan Daulagupu along with the founder President of Jadikhe Naisho Hosom Bahim Chandra Langthasa were also present in the awareness programme.
