All Bengali Students and Youth Organisation (ABSYO), New Delhi, a national democratic and non-political students and youth organization for Bengali speaking people of India strongly condemned the cowardice killing of innocent poor five Bengali-speaking people in the District of Tinsukia, Assam by unidentified motorcycle borne persons.

As a part of the protest, ABSYO organized a candle march on Friday evening from C R Park Market No. 2 to C R Park Market No. 1, New Delhi which started around 6.30 pm and ended successfully after two hours.

In a press communiqué the ABSYO said, “Freedom of speech and constitutional rights of protests and raising voice in favour of the legitimate demands of the linguistic minority Bengali community of Assam who are under constant threat from the communal, racist and fascist forces like ULFA and some of the chauvinist organizations of the state.”

The national president of ABSYO Chandan Chatterjee and Ajay Mazumder, Advisor along with other office bearer led the candle rally and said ABSYO has already brought to the notice of  Prime Minister and Home Minster of India vide its memorandum dated  October 15, the incidence of threatening by ULFA to the Bengali speaking people of Assam of dire consequences if they do not protest against the Citizenship Bill, 2016 and demanded appropriate measures for safety and security of the linguistic minority of Assam.

“It is to be noted that some surrendered pro-talk ULFA militants are continuously threatening theBengali community with dire consequences,” the ABSYO stated.

The ABSYO further said a substantial numbers of Bengalis were targeted by branding them arbitrarily as D voters who are languishing in the detention camps followed by killing of five innocents which shows the evil design of chauvinist group(s) to prevent inclusion of Bengali speaking Millions of genuine Indian citizens in the final NRC list.
