Dhemaji district has bagged National Award for excellent achievement in the implementation of Prime Minister Awash Yojana (Grameen) by timely completion and monitoring the construction activities, informed District administration sources.

Sources said that Dhemaji district has placed in second rank in the country in successful implementation of PMAY(G) scheme.

Dhemaji Deputy Commissioner  Roshni Aparanji Korati along with former DRDA Project Director Naren Kumar Paw received the prestigious award from the officials of Union Ministry of Rural Development at a function organized at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The district has scripted success story in successful implementation of PMAY(Grameen) by achieving the targets in Rural House Construction in Murkongselek (Jonai) and Sissiborgaon development blocks. The scheme is being implemented under District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Dhemaji.

Earlier too, Dhemaji district administration led by DC Korati bagged Prime Minister Award for its excellent monitoring of Deen Doyal Upadyai Grameen Kaushalya Yojana in the district during the year 2017-18. The award was received by the DC Korati on April 21 this year.

The district administration reportedly mobilized the youths through organizing massive training for successful implementation of the flagship scheme and also strictly monitored the execution processes.

The other states selected for the prestigious Nationa Award are Himachal Pradesh, Tripura, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan Karnataka, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Lakshadeep and Daman & Diu (UT).
