To conduct an error-free 69th Republic Day celebration, a final dress rehearsal parade was organised at BBI ground, Dharmanagar in Tripura on Wednesday.

The final dress rehearsal was held in presence of police and district administration officials.

According to information, the District Magistrate (DM) of North Tripura, Saradindu Chaudhury, will host the flag in presence of North Tripura Superintendent of Police (SP) Manik Das, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) D Darlong and others.

A team of Tripura State Rifles (TSR), Tripura Police, Tripura Home Guard, Tripura Women Police, NCC, Scouts and Guide, Holy Cross boys and girls.

Along with the rest of the country, Tripura has also geared up to celebrate this year’s Republic Day across the State on January 26.

It is to be mentioned here that the parade rehearsal is being conducted at the Assam Rifles ground.

According to media reports, for the first time, tribal students from Tripura will perform their traditional dance at the Republic Day parade in the national capital on January 26.

In a media report quoting Information and Cultural Affairs Department official Kumar Sinha stated that a total of 150 tribal students from 25 schools from three districts of Tripura will perform for the first time traditional ‘Sangrai dance’ in the R-Day parade.

It may be mentioned that tribals or Adivasis constitute one-third of Tripura’s 3.7 million people.

As per the media report, Tripura students are the only ones from the entire eastern region selected for performing at the R-Day parade in New Delhi this year. The Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre has extended their help to send the Tripura troupe to the national capital.
