Delhi Court remands Arvind Kejriwal to 15-day judicial custody

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said the state’s boundaries with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh will be opened from Monday.

Kejriwal said all restaurants, malls and places of worship would also open from Monday in the national capital.

Hotels and banquet halls will, however, remain closed, he added.

Kejriwal also said that by the end of June, Delhi will need 15,000 beds for coronavirus patients.

He also said over 90 per cent people from the city want only patients from the National Capital to be treated there.

“Government and provate hospital will only treat people from Delhi, while hospitals run by the Centre will remain open to all. If people from other cities come to Delhi for specific surgeries, they will be treated at private hospitals,” he said in an address.

Meanwhile, a senior officer at the Delhi Disaster Management Authority has tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.

As many as 1,320 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the national capital over the past 24 hours, taking its total to 27,654.

On the other hand, Rajasthan reported 48 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths during the last 24 hours, as per the state Health department.

The state has reported 10,385 cases and 234 deaths.

Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, inspector general of police (Kanpur range) Mohit Agarwal got himself fined for not wearing a mask in public.

Agarwal asked the station house officer of Barra Police Station, Ranjeet Singh, to fine him for stepping out without wearing a mask.

The SHO made the challan and handed over a copy to the IG who paid Rs 100 as fine on the spot.
