In the eleventh edition of the Darrang District Karate-Do Championship which concluded at the Sipajhar Academy playground in Darrang district on Sunday, Laba Choudhury emerged as the champion in the individual ‘Kata’ event of the Senior boys’ category.

In the individual ‘Kata’ event of the Senior boys’ category of the championship, Nayanmani Deka emerged as the first runner-up and Jyotiprashad Deka emerged as the second runner-up.

The championship, organized by the Sipajhar Karate-Do Academy, concluded with a day-long programme on Sunday.

The Karate championship was joined by around one hundred fifty young Karate players, both boys and girls from various parts of the district.

On the other hand, in the Junior girls’ category of the championship, Abhisipa Deka win the title whereas Madhusmita Bordoloi and Momi Sarma have been adjudged as the first and second runner-up respectively.

Similarly, in the U-15 Junior girls’ category, Karabi Duwara and Hasina Begum were declared joint champions while Sabana Nessa was adjudged as the first runner-up.

Earlier, Simanta Barman, chief of the All Assam Karate-Do Association, inaugurated the championship in presence of the President of the All India Karate Federation, Guru Gobinda Rajkhowa and other office-bearers of the All Assam Karate –Do Association.
