A sex racket operating out of a spa salon at Paltanbazar area in Guwahati was busted on Thursday. Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch of Assam police conducted a raid at Infinity Spa Unisex Salon near KFC at Guwahati’s Paltan Bazar area.
The police arrested the owner of the spa salon, Ashu Singh along with 10 girls and 3 youths in this connection. Police also seized some objectionable items, mobile phones and documents. As per reports, the Crime Branch sleuths pretended to be customers during the raid.
An FIR under sections 3 (keeping a brothel or allowing premises to be used as a brothel), 4 (living on the earnings of prostitution), 5 (procuring, inducing or taking a person for the sake of prostitution), 7 (prostitution in or in the vicinity of public places), 8 (seducing or soliciting for purpose of prostitution) and 9 (seduction of a person in custody) of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act was registered at Paltanbazar police station.
Ashu Singh is a resident of Manipuri Basti in Guwahati. The spa saloons have currently mushroomed in the city.
